Rose de Berne - Bernese Rose / 10 seeds
(Lycopersicon esculentum)
Historical tomato variety
Variety description: The ‘Bernese Rose’ is an old Swiss outdoor tomato. It is undemanding and ideal for cooler climates with short summers. It reaches a height of 120 cm, is rich in fruit and takes a little longer to ripen.
As the light red-pink fruits (120-180 grams) have a thin skin, you should only harvest the tomatoes when they are ripe. Each bunch produces 4-6 fruits that taste very pleasantly sweet and aromatic. They are suitable for direct consumption, for salads and sauces.
Cultivation: The seeds for tomatoes can be sown from the beginning of January to the end of May. At 20° - 25°C, the seeds germinate after 5-14 days. For faster germination, you can pre-soak the seeds overnight in a damp cloth. Always grow on the windowsill or in the greenhouse until mid-March. The tomato plants can only be put outside after the frost.
Care: The cultivation temperature is 18° - 20°C and should not be below 14°C at night. Loose, humus-rich and moist soil is suitable. Good, uniform soil is sufficient. Sunny and wind-protected locations are ideal for rapid and healthy growth.
