Unusual chili from southern China - the "Dragon's Toe"!

Variety description: The chili peppers grow beautifully and twisted in shape and are said to be reminiscent of a dragon's toe - you need a little imagination for this or you should have grown up in China....

The perennial plants themselves are slim and upright. The plants do not provide a good or dense canopy of leaves and we therefore only recommend limited cultivation attempts in areas where sunlight is too intense. The plants could quickly suffer burns there.

In China, green chilis are particularly popular in stir-fried dishes, but here we also like their taste when they are ripe and bright red.

Full maturity is reached after around 80-85 days - the chilis are green just 65 days after germination. The fruits also taste excellent in salads when used carefully.

Give the young plants suitable fertilizer as early as the beginning of May. Special tomato and pepper fertilizer has a long-term effect and can be easily worked into the nutrient-rich soil. The location should be bright to sunny and warm. The more sunlight the plants get, the better they thrive - 5 hours of sun per day is ideal, but this might be difficult here. Water generously and the water temperature should not be below 14°C. At night the temperature should not fall below 12°C. Chili plants always look neat and become even more beautiful when the fruits turn from green to red in late summer/early autumn or decorate the balcony or terrace in yellow or dark purple. Then the harvest takes place and you can use this versatile species. Enjoy your meal - if possible!

Before sowing, moisten the soil, sprinkle seeds on it, cover it very thinly and press down lightly. At 20°-26°C the seeds germinate after 8-14 days. You can also just press the seeds onto the soil, as they are light germinators.

The germination rate is around 85% and only decreases very slowly.
