Purple Tiger / 10 seeds
(Capsicum chinense)
Small chilli plant for home cultivation
Variety description: The bushy plants only grow to 40-60 cm in height and are therefore ideal for cultivation in pots or tubs. They can be kept indoors.
The fruits are small and extremely hot. They first appear green, then turn red and purple when ripe. The chilli peppers are slightly oval to elongated. The leaves are also very pretty to look at. They have white and purple shades. Germination takes place after 10-20 days.
Cultivation: Before sowing, moisten the soil, sprinkle seeds on top, cover very thinly and press down lightly. At 20°-26°C, the seeds germinate after 8-14 days.
Care: Give the young plants suitable fertilizer at the beginning of May. Special tomato and pepper fertilizer has a long-term effect and can be easily worked into the soil. The location should be bright to sunny and warm. Water generously. The temperature should not fall below 16°C at night.
Pepper plants always look neat and become even more beautiful when the fruits turn from green to red in late summer/early autumn or decorate the balcony or terrace in yellow or dark purple. Then the harvest takes place and you can use this healthy vegetable in a variety of ways. Enjoy your meal!
- Use suitable humus-rich soil or ready-made special soil.
- It is best to sow in pots straight away. February to April is ideal. For outdoor cultivation, the end of April to mid-May is sufficient. The cultivation period is 12-14 weeks, depending on the variety.
- Fertilize generously with tomato/pepper fertilizer or lots of compost.
- For good soil, you should water a lot, as the plants develop few roots and therefore cannot store much.
- Give the young plants a stick to support them
- Break out the first flower/fruit. This increases the yield of the ripening fruit.
- The water used for irrigation must not be colder than 14°C.
