Andine Cornue / Andean Horn /
10 seeds
(Lycopersicon esculentum)
Historic farmer's tomato!
Variety description: This old preservation variety is one of the early-ripening farmer's varieties and is very popular. The stake tomato 'Andean Horn' comes from the Andes in Ecuador and Peru and forms long, horn-like but firm fruits. These last a very long time on the plants. They weigh between 80-150 grams, have few seeds, little juice and very little acid.
They are among the 'best' and their flesh is extremely aromatic - almost sweet and melting.
Cultivation and care: The seeds for tomatoes can be sown from the beginning of January to the end of May. At 20° - 25°C the seeds germinate after 5 - 14 days.
For faster germination you can let the seeds soak overnight in a damp cloth. Always grow on the windowsill or in the greenhouse until mid-March. The tomato plants can only be put outside after the frost.
Care: The cultivation temperature is 18° - 20°C and should not be below 14°C at night. Loose, humus-rich and moist soil is suitable. Good, uniform soil is sufficient. Sunny and wind-protected locations are ideal for rapid and healthy growth.
